It has always amazed me when reading the gospels how often Jesus' critics reacted in knee-jerk fashion, completely ruining what ought to be a beautiful moment of blessing. In today's text, we begin with Jesus driving out an evil spirit from a man who had been held captive and mute. When he spoke again, surely his words were praising God for his newfound freedom, and the crowd was amazed...but not all the crowd. There were a few who could only see through cracked lenses personal bias who accused Jesus of for the Devil. You know you need an attitude check when you are so fixed on finding "flaws" that you can't even see God blessing people right in front of you, and an attitude check is just what we'll see Jesus accomplish in today's story from the Gospel of Luke.
