As we hit episode 20 of the Avenue Red Podcast series we welcome a veteran of Deep House & Techno, Esther Duijn from Amsterdam, Holland. Esther has been busy with her musical mission from a young age and has honed in on her own distinctive style of House & Techno with lots of groove and atmosphere with distinct dubby overtones, sometimes skirting along the fringes of the true Dub Techno sound.
As a solo artist and also together with her partner Steady Douglas under their Duijn&Douglas moniker, Esther has 18 vinyl releases to her name across a range of solid labels including Earth Tones, Exquisite Music, Soul People Music, Feelharmonic Records and Housewax to name a few.
Esther is a resident DJ at Sisyphos, Berlin, co-organiser of Donker at Club Up in Amsterdam and also hosts a Berlin night called Another Earth that has had the likes of Moritz von Oswald, Anton Zap and Tom Ellis as guests. Panorama Bar, Zur Wilden Renate, Wanted! (clubs in Berlin); Berns, Kruthuset (clubs in Stockholm); Studio 80, Trouw (clubs in Amsterdam) are a few of the other more noteworthy nightspots to have embraced her sound to date. She is also playing at Freerotation Festival (England) and Tomorrowland Festival (Belgium) this summer, so make sure you catch her playing if you're lucky enough to make it to either of these events!
This mix is just over an hours-worth of Esther doing what she does best - ripping through a bunch of dancefloor-friendly house and techno records and keeping things interesting, atmospheric, deep, raw and never loosing her focus on the groove. Enjoy the mix!
