For the 21st Avenue Red Podcast we turn to highly respected and deeply underground DJ/producer/label-boss Brad Peterson who hails from Louisville, US and is now based in the Scotland capital city of Edinburgh. Brad has released music as "Brad P", "Brad Peterson" and "Trackmachine" on labels such as Moods & Grooves, 7th Sign, Inner Shift Music, Minuendo, Yore, Hotmix, AMR, Contrast Wax and Monochromatic to name a few. He has a new label venture called "Common Dreams" and he also co-owns the label "Inner Shift Music" with fellow Edinburgh artist/producer Rai Scott. Together they also produce another project under the moniker "2DeepSoul". Brad has carved out his own niche in the electronic & deep house music scene, both as an independent artist and also with Rai Scott as 2DeepSoul. Individually and together, they have both received huge support from DJ's, labels, writers and fans from all over the world.
We feel that this mix delivers a true testament to Brad's skill as a DJ and the deeply considered artistry behind everything he puts his time and soul into. And quite audibly, this guy is not capable of serving up music with half-measures! Here he displays a vibrant style of house music that is saturated with rich musicality and lots of quality instrumentation, often underpinned with warm analogue beats. Brad keeps the mix fresh on the ear at all times, layering his set steadily with lots of variety and unexpected elements - a curious mixture of techy and organic sounds, laced with soul, groove and engaging melodies. A few of his own tracks are featured on this mix, including the gloriously deep "Ice Planets" on his Inner Shift Music label. We've had our hands on this mix for a few weeks already and have absolutely nailed it on heavy repeat. This is highly addictive house music from a man highly addicted to house music in all it's various forms.
