After changing city twice in 2020 - from Newcastle to Belgrade, then Belgrade to Manchester - Avenue Red has now settled here permanently in the capital of Northern England. For the first time since doing so, we are happy to present a mix from this great city as we introduce Quadrant Soundscape, a dynamic duo of promotors, DJs, producers & podcasters, each also operating under other guises (Asphalt Layer/Scavenger). They also run the Dub Explorations series, which has been alive for exactly 5 years to date. This platform is aptly-titled and through it they have transmitted 71 episodes of mind-bendingly deep, dubby, intergalactic techno sounds alongside a few intriguing guests.
As we enter March and the spring season, let's embrace the uplifting vibes, the green shoots, the longer and brighter days. Let's usher in this new era of newfound optimism and hope with this cool, calm, collected blend of eclectic, soul-warming electronic music by these 2 passionate Mancunian "deep heads"!
"Firstly, thank you to Alec for the opportunity to become part of the Avenue Red family, joining the incredible artists already in the series is a real privilege. This mix has been in the works for almost a year now and has taken many different forms during that time. Originally a submission made a year ago could not be released due to a defect with the recording, but here is the fresh new stereo take!
Undoubtedly this time has been tough for all of us, and so this mix is a refection and reaction to how we've been feeling. There are elements of happiness, sadness, madness and everything in-between, all tracks were carefully considered and are all there on merit, bringing together our love of all things deep, dubby, house-y.
