Glasgow/Aberdeen lad Chris Curtis, a long-time DJ and aficionado of awesome music, a prominent figure in the real Scottish underground scene has stepped forth, breaking an Avenue Red silence of no less than 51 days.
After a healthy hiatus while the world was otherwise distracted, it is finally time to bring those who "see red" a fresh mix from a truly passionate and knowledgable musical soul who is one of the founder members of the excellent Glasgow-based institution, Club Sounds Live. Also known as CSL, it is an underground music movement and a hive of music knowledge with a strong membership of proper Sub Club, Arches, Pressure etc. veterans. We are so happy to finally restart the engine and bring yet another special mix of underground gems.

I've been DJ'ing for 20 years now in bars and clubs, mostly in Aberdeen (Scotland). From around 2005 to 2010, I was a resident at a locally famed techno night called Metropolis at the Pelican Club. Over the years, I had the pleasure of warming up for some brilliant international guests, also playing resident nights alongside night curator Chris Knox.
I love the warm up maybe even more than the headline slot. There's something special about seeing an empty dancefloor bubble into a coiled spring ready for the headline act to come on. I'm a fan of long transitions and unexpected drops and I think long a warm up set gives you the perfect opportunity to craft an atmosphere and experience what the crowd is feeling at a more intimate level.
As far as influences and genre go, they are varied and I'm quite open minded. I'm a huge fan of zen like melancholic sounds, deep grooves and pounding hypnotic rhythms. Although I'm also a fan of downtempo, funk and disco, I've kept things mostly electronic for this mix.
Currently, I present the monthly subSine | Sessions show on Groove City Radio (Glasgow) which aside from great guest mixes, promotes the music of up and coming talent from the subSine Academy of Electronic Music in Glasgow.
