We think we know Jesus, “Oh yeah, he’s God, of course.” But we've become so desensitized to that. We don’t usually let the Bible set the stage. We don’t actually stand in front of Jesus and take him at his word, to face him on his terms.
So that’s what we’re going to do this morning. We’re going to take Jesus at his word. And we’re going to do that by inhabiting his world, imagining ourselves there, listening to him speak. This really is how the gospel narratives are designed to be read. We need to put ourselves in the story.
