Overview – By What Authority Are You Doing These Things? Matthew 21:23-27.
Today in our sermon we read about how Jesus answers those religious Pharisees who come and ask Him who gave Him the authority to do all the things He was doing, while He was teaching the people in the temple.
Jesus doesn’t just tell them out right who gave Him His authority, but gives them a roundabout answer involving John the Baptist’s baptism.
We know that Jesus got His authority from God, but why didn’t the Pharisees know that?
And
Why did Jesus not just tell them that He had His authority from God?
