Overview: A Question To Divide. Matthew 22:34-40.
In our sermon today we read about the Pharisees who send one of their team, who is a scribe, to test Jesus with a question about which commandment of God, from His law, is the greatest.
Now previously the Pharisees, as well as their disciples, had already tried to test Jesus with other questions, in hopes of being able to trip Him up and get a hold of Him to Kill Him.
What do the Pharisees hope to accomplish with their test, this time?
They have been unsuccessful each and every time they have attacked Him in the past, will they catch Him off guard this time?
