This movie is hard to pin down. It’s a trashy 80s slasher. The effects are incredible. The gore is amazing. It wants desperately to be Friday the 13th. And Nightmare on Elm Street. And Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
But Sleepaway Camp manages to be its own film, a strange, tasteless, hilarious, satisfying, gloriously schlocky thing all its own.
