Description

Thursday: Grief and outrage over the refusal to indict the white New York City police officer in the choking death of Eric Garner. Garner’s death was caught on video and his last words were “I can’t breathe”.

We get reaction from Ronald Hampton, former Executive Director of the National Black Police Association; NYC based Francisco Torres of the Panther 8, author and New Jersey based civil rights campaigner Junius Williams, tory Russell of Ferguson based Hands Up United. Cory spoke to us from the Cleveland Ohio where he was attending a gathering in memory of 12-year-old Tamir Rice. Dr. Gerald Horne joins us for some analysis and historic context.

Also, “Sojourner Goes to the Movies” with S. Pearl Sharp. She covers the film Difret coming soon to local theatres. It is a story by an Ethiopian filmmaker that challenges traditions and the difficulties of moving from old to new.
