Fallout continues from the Charlie Hebdo and kosher market attacks in France that left 20 dead. The Pope weighs in; France arrests 54 for exercising their free speech, at least 2 are killed in what reported to be a foiled “terrorist” attack in Belgium.
Meanwhile, the Boko Haram have killed more than 2,000 people in Nigeria, but those victims don’t garner the outpouring of support as seen for the victims in France. What’s going on?
And the beltway gears up for President Obama’s State of the Union address. The President is making it clear that he is moving forward with his agenda, from paid family leave to free community college education; to sweeping to policies on Cuba to releasing more prisoners from Guantanamo; to threatening to block the building of the Keystone XL Pipeline to not backing down on his Executive order on immigration reform. Meanwhile the GOP controlled House and Senate scramble to block his initiatives even as they bicker among themselves.
