Our guest is Dr. David Himmelstein is a Distinguished Professor of Public Health at the City University of New York, a lecturer in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and a primary care doctor in The Bronx. Dr. Himmelstein co-founded Physicians for a National Health Program, a group whose 23,000 members advocate for Medicare for All.
We also turn our attention to Julian Assange, who is under threat of extradition to the United States. As the COVID-19 virus continues to wreak havoc on the United Kingdom and the world as a whole, many are concerned about Assange's health. Our guest is Deepa Govindarajan Driver. She is a university lecturer and a disabled woman of color, based in London. Deepa is also a citizen activist campaigning to free Assange, the publisher of Wikileaks and a multi award-winning journalist.
Also, we take a look at the impact of the protests in April 2000 against the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. Our guest is Soren Ambrose, the International Head of Policy, Advocacy, and Research, for Action Aid International. He is based in Nairobi, Kenya. He was one of the lead organizers of the April 2000 protests against the IMF and World Bank which brought upwards of 20,000 to Washington, DC.
