We discuss the latest escalation of tensions between the U.S. and Iran and the implications for the region and the world. Also, are tariffs the new WW3? China has gone on the defensive against U.S. tariffs and is calling on the nationalist spirit of the Chinese people to overcome economic disruption by the tariffs. Meanwhile, 600 U.S. companies have asked Trump to lift the tariffs on China. And Mexico, it seems, bowed to pressure from the U.S. and has stepped up repression of migrants.
Also, whats going on in Washington DC? Where is the democracy that is touted as an example to the world? The U.S. House of Representatives is having a very difficult time doing the oversight job they are mandated to do as part of the system of checks and balances laid out in the U.S. Constitution. Donald Trump is just ignoring it all, putting up roadblocks at every move the House makes and also recently announced that it is perfectly okay for a presidential candidate to accept dirt on an opposition candidate. This basically implies that Trump is open for business; so for any country that wants to influence the upcoming U.S. presidential election, the coast is clear.
