Pacifica Fund Drive: We delve into the Pacifica Radio Archives and pull out some amazing audio detailing the life and times of Paul Robeson. Robeson emerged as one of the 20th century's most gifted entertainers, gaining world wide fame and notoriety. He was also one of the first international celebrities to use his status and talents to fight for causes and philosophies he believed in, such as combating poverty, elevating the status of the working man, and battling the scourge of racism. Robeson's high profile made him a target of conservative elements within the United States, and in the 1950's, he was blacklisted for his belief in socialism and his support for the Soviet Union. As a result, Robeson was largely erased from the memory of US popular culture, and despite his enormous talents, has languished in relative obscurity.

Today on Sojourner Truth we set the record straight and bring this great entertainer, activist, and icon back into the spotlight of history where he belongs.
