Friday on our weekly roundtable:

The Snowden affair, Syria and more: the US/Russia cold war is back and heats up. The President cancels his summit with Russian President Valdimir Putin. While it’s big news in the US, it’s seemingly a yawn in Russia.

The US steps up drone attacks in Yemen which has reportedly killed 34 people since July 27th alone. The US closes 19 of its embassies in North Africa and the Middle East, and there is now confusion as to whether or not Yemen foiled an Al Qaeda plot. Can the US really afford to maintain its current foreign policy as it impacts the region?

And the President takes his national strategy on the economy including his controversial housing proposals on a road test. What has been gained under his watch and what has not? Why does his latest pronouncement on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac leave so many puzzled?

With the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington approaching, what must the nation face in order to live up to the ideals expressed in that march?

Panelists are: Jackie Goldberg; Tom Hayden; Dr. Gerald Horne.
