Have you ever tried to pray in tongues but it didn't feel real? Or it felt like nothing happened? Or you felt silly? Join the club, everyone feels that way the first few times. Remember your spirit is praying and your mind won't get it (1 Corinthians 14:14). The key is to mix faith in your heart with the sounds in your mouth. Jesus addressed this concept in Matthew 15:8 "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." While this passage is not about tongues, the principle applies. When you pray in tongues, make sure you start with gratitude and an awareness of God's spirit within. Remember that it's an act of faith, you're doing something that doesn't make sense to your mind but you can be confident, knowing that God is praying for you, through you.
