In this episode of "Conversations from Studio B," host Emily Votaw speaks with Don Adleta, professor emeritus of graphic design at Ohio University, about a proposed paper, print, and book museum in Athens County. Adleta outlines the project's goal of preserving traditional letterpress, papermaking, and bookbinding techniques while offering interactive, hands-on educational experiences for all ages. The museum would house historic equipment, including presses and thousands of drawers of metal and wood type, much of it used in OU’s long-running letterpress courses. Adleta also discusses possible commercial applications, such as custom printing and handmade paper production, that could help sustain the museum financially. The vision includes gallery space, a rare book library, and archival resources to preserve the legacies of regional artists.
