This is the full-length debut from New York pop-punk trio Quarterbacks. These guys jam (cram? slam?) 19 songs into a 22 minute record and - to be blunt- they don’t really give any of these tracks enough room to really grow on me. At their core, these are love-torn, relatively whiny pop-punk songs that would have a much stronger effect if they were hashed out a little more. Furthermore, there’s quite a bit of repetition when it comes to melody, rhythm, chord progressions and even word choice from track to track. I want to be fair and say that this young band does have a lot of heart, and there’s definitely a strong six-or-seven minute EP hidden away in this record. But in its current state, this album wears me out without truly rewarding me for the listen.
