Long delayed recording and now long delayed upload. Brandon and Jennifer were both somehow on vacation at the same time, then I was down for the count with intestinal issues, then Jennifer and I both had COVID, then I was down with intestinal issues again... and then they returned again after recording.
But, here we are. As previously discussed here and in our 2015 documentary about her Indiana Noise Fest, I met Laura in 2015 because of said noise festival. She came out to me as a trans woman a couple years ago, but it was my understanding although she's transitioned she wasn't really into talking about it. Now with everything going on, she is.
Shit's bleak right now, particularly for trans people and especially trans kids. Laura talks about coming out and transitioning in her late 20s and the struggles she had between realizing what was going on as a child and being up against an unforgiving culture and confused family. She recounts it all with empathy and humor.
Recording was wonky this time, but I have plans to deal with it in the future as I'm hopefully more healthy and capable of sitting for long periods of time. Sorry if the references go over your head.
