The work Nehemiah was doing was too great to allow the enemy a foothold of his time. He knew the enemy had plans to destroy him so he stuck with finishing his work. When we focus on the kingdom and not the enemy God tends to fight our battles. Always stay focused no matter the intensity of our battles. Tell the enemy , I am too busy to waste my time.
