One of the primary themes that you will find in the Sermon on the Mount is Jesus teaching on the "Matters of the Heart." He urges everyone to examine what is really rooted in your heart. You cannot live life separate from what is actually in your heart. In Proverbs 27:19, it says, "As in water face reflects face, so a man's heart reveals the man." Today, as we begin in Matthew 5 with the "Beatitudes," I want us to place the matters of our heart up to the mirror of God's word and see what is really revealed in our life.
