The Pastors are back and they're coming out swinging (figuratively).
Stand Your Ground laws have been highly controversial in recent years. Some state that they are necessary for self-defense while others contest that these laws give license for murder.
In preparing for this discussion, The Pastors sought the counsel of God's word in regards to self-defense and murder. We find that scripture is replete with instruction on the defense of self, our families, the church, and marginalized groups (widows & orphans). However, defense does not mean that the Christian is to go looking for the fight.
This is not an easy topic and there will be a counter viewpoint no matter where your conscience may fall. We ask that you approach this subject humbly, under the direction of God's word.
14 Remind them of these things, and charge them before God not to quarrel about words, which does no good, but only ruins the hearers. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent babble, for it will lead people into more and more ungodliness... 2 Timothy 2:14-16
