We do not live in a world void of different perspectives than our own. I am sure most of us can recall a Thanksgiving dinner or two that may as well have been the 2016 presidential debate. It is easy to let disagreements and differences get in the way of healthy relationships and unity within the church, so why did God create diversity?
Redeemer Presbyterian Church's Senior Pastor Craig Bailey answered this question through Paul's writing in I Corinthians chapter 12. The simple answer: our growth is stunted without diversity and with it, the gospel is fully exposed. God is diverse, being made of three persons, yet the same being. He has gifted us, believers, to be diverse yet united through the installation of the same Spirit. Oneness among diverse people shows the gospel is real.
