An Introduction to Abundance - The Lens of Outgiving God

Luke 18:28- 30

2 Corinthians 9:6-15

In urging the Corinthian believers to give generously, Paul is aware that he must address a very human concern in a world of limited resources Paul assures them that in God’s economy things work differently.

2 Corinthians 9:6 6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.

Proverbs 11:24-25 (NKJV)

24 There is one who scatters, yet increases more; And there is one who withholds more than is right, But it leads to poverty.

25 The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.

1. GOD’S SUPPLY: He is the source of every blessing in my life!

Psalm 50:7-12

2. GOD’S DESIGN: He created us to be a channel of blessing, not a container!

2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

John 7:37-38 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

Acts 20:35 35 I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

2 Cor. 9:11 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

3. GOD’S CYCLE: The more I give away, the more there is to give away!

2 Corinthians 9:11 11 while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God.

Luke 6:38 (NKJV) 38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”

Malachi 3:10 (NKJV) 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

Acts 3:6 (NKJV) 6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV) 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

We started by saying God loves a cheerful giver. A giver can only give cheerfully that which he or she does not treasure.
