WELCOME TO YOUR LIFE

What is the goal of the Christian life?

One goal is the key to achieving all of our other goals.

Colossians 3:14 – Put on God’s love (agape’)

Ephesians 3:14-19

Being rooted and grounded in God’s love is the requirement for putting on love. Like Jesus, we reveal God’s true nature to this world when we walk in His love.

When we are rooted and grounded in God’s love for us, know who we are in Christ and have had the Gifts of the Spirit activated in our lives, we are then fully empowered to do to the works that Jesus did on a regular basis.

Biblical evangelism and the making of disciples. Nowhere in the Bible am I aware of the command to get people “saved”.

Matthew 28:16-20 (NKJV)

Whether “Go” in Go make disciples is the imperative form (Go!) or the passive form (going) I found much controversy and confusion. Does it really matter? Whether we go or as we are going isn’t the important thing that we are making disciples?

2 Timothy 2:1-3 - Replication of ministries - Disciplining and committing our ministry to others who are faithful and able to make disciples of others.

The Holy Spirit would not have inspired Ephesians 4:11, calling some to equip the church to the work of ministry, which includes making disciples.

For those not called as Ephesians 4 ministers, for those of us living in exile in this world until we return to the place of our true citizenship, as Stephen so well taught us a couple of weeks ago there is Jeremiah 29:4-7

The spiritual principle taught here instructs us that as we are going about everyday life that we are multiply and bring increase to the Kingdom of God.

Why is this important? It doesn’t matter if you are called to go or as you are going, you are to be making disciples.

Being rooted and ground in God’s love, we understand who we are in Christ.

Being filled with the fullness of God, and having the gifts of the Holy Spirit active in our lives, we may do the work of Christ, which is revealing the true nature of God the Father, and the truth of the Bible.

This is what our lives as Christians should be about. We should be “Jesus” with flesh on, in every place we go and in everything we do.

Philippians 3:12-15a

God does not want us looking behind but pressing forward to attain the high calling which He has given us.

Jeremiah 29:11-14

Going forward, we all have an opportunity and a choice. We can choose to actively press on in the Holy Spirit and be amazed at what God is doing in and through us.

Or we can settle for where we are today and be dismayed.

How do we press on into God?

By cooperating with what the Holy Spirit is doing in our midst. As the Bereans, take what we teach you and search the Scripture to see if it so. By doing the work of the ministry. And by prayer and supplication, hungering and seek for more of God’s love.
