Theme of chapter 18 is the humility and innocence of ‘little ones’ : how Jesus describes the Kingdom of Heaven
How often do we struggle with greatness? Whether we are truly the greatest person alive or not, the struggle of ambition is at the center of all sinful hearts. We long to be better/greater than our peers … greater than who we truly are. It seems then that the desire of all of us is to be someone other than who we currently are. What better direction to long for than to be the greatest.
Today’s passage then must focus on the question that the disciples pose and the profound answer given from our LORD. The Kingdom of Heaven is full of irony. The least, the weakest, the most humble of humanity are elevated to the highest and greatest status in the Kingdom of Heaven.
