As long as the world remains in its fallen state, there will be plenty of opportunity for the persecution of the Church. Furthermore, as long as the world is in its fallen state, there will be plenty of opportunity to proclaim the gospel despite persecution. Jesus teaches in the Beatitudes that one of the most difficult attributes of citizenship in the Kingdom of Heaven is that of persecution by the fallen world. But, God's children are promised a blessing and reward of eternal life despite persecution that might even lead to death.
