Jesus now explains brilliantly that acts of mercy are an essential aspect of the Kingdom of Heaven. Just as God pours out mercy upon all of sinful humanity - an act of kindness toward us in our dire circumstance - citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven likewise act mercifully toward others in their sinful circumstances. "And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire: to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh." [Jude 22-23]
