Description

We first prayed for the Church in Afghanistan on this Sunday morning. The brave Christians live in the midst of evil. Yet many are bold and loyal to Christ. They are not fickle and bored children who do not wish to join the wedding feast of the Lamb. Please pray for the Church in Afghanistan.

Jesus praised John the Baptist and then challenged the crowds with him who followed after John's ministry of repentance. Jesus now explains further that there are two types of people who hear the truth of the gospel. Those who humbly come into the righteousness of God or those who pridefully misapply the wisdom of God. This passage in Matthew 11 is a parody of how a rabbi would teach and Jesus speaks directly to the prideful religious teachers in the crowd. The analogy in Jesus' lesson is meant to show that God sees those who pridefully reject salvation as fickle, bored, and spoiled children.
