Description

This morning following the celebration of our Lord’s birth in Bethlehem, I felt it appropriate to reflect upon the Providence and Sovereignty of God. This hymn of praise urges God’s people, those whom God chooses to be his own, to trust and to worship HIM alone. We are reminded as we read this wonderful hymn that God alone is worthy of our deepest devotion. No other god and no other worldly distraction is worthy of our devotion. These are merely idolatrous replacements for the one true God who is our maker and our redeemer. He truly does whatever HE pleases.

Secondly, and most important … not only is God in the heavens, he does ALL that he pleases. This truthful statement reminds us that God is not relegated to the heavens and isolated from the earth … isolated from us. God does ALL that he pleases both in the heavens AND in the earth.

The Christmas worship around the Incarnation drives this point home.
