In Exodus, we see God giving Moses a clear outline for the Sabbath. It was meant to refresh them, to give them rest, and to enjoy the fruits of their labor. It was while Moses was receiving this refreshing command that the people at the bottom of the mountain got frustrated with Moses and created the Golden Calf.
