Meditation of the week: Psalms 91:1-16

Text: Jeremiah 13:23

Word title: God judges the hypocrites who not repent

          When God spoke to the Israelites who worshiped idols and did evil before God,  God said that they never can do good  just as the black skin  of African Ethiopians cannot be changed, and the black spots of  leopard cannot be changed either. What this means is that their good works are all hypocrisy. In other words,  all of them are hypocrites.

         God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah about the heart of man:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

10I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.“(Jer. 17:9-10)

           God hates hypocrites and spoke about  them many times saying he will judge them: hypocritesshalll not come before him (Job 13:16), and the congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate (Job 15:34), and also the joy  of hypocrites is only for  a moment (Job 20:5). He also says that an  hypocrite with his mouth  destroys his neighbors (Pr 11:9). For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God takes away his soul?  (Job 27:8).

          Jesus also spoke of the hypocrites:

“Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.…
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.….16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. “(Matt. 6:2,5,16)

            Jesus also spoke to the hypocritical religious leaders at that time:

”  And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?….
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.… Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.” (Matthew 16:3;23:13,27, Luke 11:44)

           Jesus also spoke of the religious practices of hypocrites:

“Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. ” (Mark 7:6)

            Jesus told the hypocrites who did not realize how dirty sins were their inside heart:

“That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

21For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. ” (Mark 7:20-23)

           When Jesus says “the man,” he is talking about all men born in the world. In other words, everyone born in the world is a hypocrite who cannot do good according to the prophesy of the prophet Jeremiah. In other words, no matter what kind of good deeds of man only seen as hypocrites before the eyes of God.  It is only whitewashed grave.

          A young man came to Jesus and asked for eternal life:

” Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?” (Matthew 19:16)

            Jesus replied to him:

“ Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.….  If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. ” (Matthew 19:17,21)

            When this young man called Jesus was a good master, he did not realize that Jesus is God. So he grieved and left Jesus, for he couldn’t give up his wealth for Jesus.

           That’s right! Only Jesus Christ, the only good God, can remove the filthy sins in the heart of man with his own blood. He took away the sin of the world two thousand years ago. Even now, the Lord Jesus asks Christian to follow him denying himself, and taking up his own cross.

          Religious leaders in Jesus time knew the dirty sins in their heart, but they hid them and showed hypocrisy before the people. Thus, they were unable to discern the times and built up their own  wrath by taking only their own wealth.

      Even in this last days, Satan is using his servants to devote themselves only to the ritual activities, worshiping God in vain, hiding true gospel so that they not discern the time being ignorant from what is going to happen in the near future.  They are making people blind to make  them more hellish sons than them. .

         God uses his true servants to teach the seasonal word of God so that the purified bride of Christ to be prepared in the day of Christ. But Satan uses his false servants to unite the churches of God with the whore Church, throwing them into the great tribulation to be cast into the lake of fire by the Antichrist.

          Long time ago, Satan must have planned a pandemic like a Corvid-19 to nearly complete the mark of the beast that the Antichrist will use to rule the whole world in the future, almost churches are still not discerning the times.

         Apostle John testified of what shall happen to them who receive the Mark of the Beast made by Antichrist in the hear future in the Great Tribulation :

” And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.” (Rev. 16:2)

          Jesus spoke of the blessings of the faithful servants who discern the time and prepare for it, and of the judgments of hypocritical servants:

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

45Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

50The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 24:44-51)

           That’s right! Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd  all sins being washed away by His blood, and all born-again Christians who have received the Holy Spirit are good ones, not hypocrites. They shall bear the good fruit of the Holy Spirit nothing is hypocrites such as love, joy peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance(Gal. 5:22-23):

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them..” (Eph. 2:10)
