The question of whether or not God favors men over women is a crucial one. The thorny issue of women being undervalued, devalued, oppressed, or in bondage in masculine-favored societies over the ages is ongoing, if less overt. The pain is real and particularly difficult if it looks like God is for it on any level. The Old Testament of the Bible truly reflects societies where this was simply not questioned. The difficult passages regarding women in the New Testament and how they have been handled poorly and filtered through faulty lenses do need to be addressed.
