The story of Ruth is an Advent story; a story of joy in the midst of sorrow. Naomi hatches a plot for Ruth to win Boaz' favor: she will sneak onto his threshing floor at night and present herself as his humble servant. And what could have gone wildly wrong, turns into a joyful commitment to cherish and honor. Boaz promises Ruth he will be her family redeemer if he is able.
