Peter takes us back to Genesis to show us three examples of God's justice on evil, two examples of God's mercy on sinners, and points us to the one example where God's justice and mercy meet: in the crucifixion of Jesus. All of this reminds us to be wary of false teachers and to be willing to trust only in the righteousness of Christ.
