In just about every area of life, we’re told to follow what’s smart, proven, and sophisticated. We choose strategies that impress others, solutions that make sense to our logic, and leaders who look the part. But then comes the gospel—a message centered on a crucified carpenter from an obscure town—something the world has always called foolish. Yet here’s the paradox: that “foolish” message is the very power of God to save. The cross doesn’t fit the world’s categories of wisdom or strength, but it accomplishes what human wisdom never could—it rescues the sinner, redeems the lost, and humbles the proud.
