Jesus said many things that were hard for his listeners to believe. Over and
over He raised the bar of what it meant to follow him. He told a rich man to sell everything,
give it to the poor and follow him, He told a man to let his dead father to be buried by
other dead people, He spit in peoples faces (healing), He said if you have anger or lust
then you are already guilty of murder and adultery, He said if your hand or eye causes you
to stumble then you should cut it off or pluck it out, and oh yeah He said that he was the
son of God and that he and the Father are ONE. How many people in this room know
that context is important. Today we are going to look at one of the must difficult things to
swallow that Jesus said.
