July 31, 2016 / Mike Gockley

Are you happy? Did you know that it is God’s intent that we be very, very happy? The entire world runs after happiness, and yet for so many, true happiness remains elusive. Our lives oftentimes are filled with sadness, frustration, overwhelming challenges, doubts, confusion, pain, and suffering. Jacob was a man who pursued happiness. But he was also a man who endured a tremendous amount of misfortune, mistreatment, sorrow, fear, injustice, and pain. And he made some pretty big mistakes too. Yet thousands of years after his death he is remembered for his faith in the way he pursued the blessing of God. This week we will look at how the story of Jacob can inform our own pursuit of happiness and how - in Jesus - our past, present, and future failures need not stand in our way.
