Today Bashawn called in to share her experiences with fear and how it has effected her job, security and justice. Bashawn tells us about how she lost her job after working there for 20 years over a racist and discriminatory incident but that she also experienced countless times where she had to deal with a racist incident during her time as a banker. Her unjust firing lead her to fight for herself and others who have also been wrongly and unjustly terminated for circumstances such as their skin color, gender discrimination or sexual preference. While Bashawn has always had the courage to speak up in the face of evil and injustice this circumstance has lead her to write a book and be a voice to help others when they too are in need of help and an ally. Bashawn speaks about how important it is to have faith and to let your faith be your guiding light when there is none. Her book, ‘Being Black in Banking and in America’ is scheduled to be released in September and she also blogs and posts about social injustice. Bashawn is the OKC State NAACP Corporate Liaison.
