Today Edo called in to share his story of fear and trying something even though it was scary. Edo was afraid of swimming - it was something that his mom challenged him to do and told him it was manly to be able to swim. Edo talks about coming from a latin family where you had to show your toughness. A friend encouraged him to swim in the ocean, which is such a powerful expansive force with truly wild animals lurking beneath the surface which we can not see, and Edo faced his fears and swam for the first time. He knew that he could do it and it gave him a source of strength and pride. We also spoke about grief and loss, the power of art on the human soul and Edo shared two of his amazing poems with us.
