Today I had the amazing experience of speaking with Maigyn who has lived one of those unbelievable stories… Maigyn grew up in a cult. She was brainwashed from a young age to not speak with anyone outside of their religious group and was trained to cut out anyone who “was not one of them”. Whenever she met someone for the first time she would first need to find out if they were part of the same cult organization and if they weren’t she would not speak with them. This behavior though began to wear on her and make her afraid of the world and she started making poor decisions and she lost trust in things. It wasn’t until Maigyn broke free of the cult and began researching fear for herself that she began to concur her fears of the world. She see’s fear as a response to things not an emotion. Maigyn has so much to teach us about facing and moving through fear without letting it stop us from living the life we choose for ourselves.
