My guest for today rescheduled at the last second so in order to honor my goal of recording with one new person every day of the 2020 year I dashed down the street to visit Sammy and Robert who own the Santa Monica Wine Expo store (and since I just got a new mic I wanted to test an in-person recording). About two weeks ago when the looting was taking place in Santa Monica I did the same thing… I dashed down the block to check on Sammy and make sure that he was ok. After all, I have know Sammy since I moved to Santa Monica and he has always been the kindest nicest person. That day when I ran over to his shop it was clear how tense and scary the situation was. Sammy, Robert and a group of their friends had fortified their story while swarms of looters circled the building like sharks waiting to strike. It was beyond scary. It felt like the wild west… lawless and every man for himself. Guns where out and as night time fell upon Santa Monica it was clear that every shop owner was on their own to protect their store… there would be no help from the police. In todays short recording Sammy and Robert tell us a little about how they felt during that night of the Santa Monica looting. If you are ever in the neighborhood make sure to stop in and say hi to Sammy and Robert. https://wineexpocom.wordpress.com
