Today Sarafina called in to share her story and journey with fear that brought her into the art therapy space. Sarafina talks about growing up caught between cultures and family expectations telling her messages about who she is “supposed” to be and who she was inside. She felt like people where judging her based on the color of her skin and that her family wouldn’t accept her based on her sexuality. She felt isolated and alone. One way she was able to work though the feelings that she was experiencing was though art therapy. She spoke up about her truths and realized that being judged by others is a lot less painful then the pressures and judgements that she was carrying around by judging herself.
