Today Theresa called in to share her fear of flying and the steps that she has taken about challenging her fears. Theresa has a PHD in psychology and she works as a hypnotherapist which is super cool because she can analyze her fears from a highly knowledgeable place but even as she will explain knowing about your fears from an academic viewpoint and treating yourself for them is equally challenging. What I love about Theresa’s story is that when she was a young girl she remembers enjoying flying and not being scared. But as we get older we experience and fly directly into life’s turbulence, there is just no way around it… and we become self limiting, self critical, self defeating and closed off to the moment that we are in. It wasn’t until Theresa was able to watch someone else who had even more acute fear of flying that she decided to take on her fear and change the way she approaches flying.
