Today I had the pleasure of speaking with Val about her phobia of taxidermy (the preserving of an animal's body via mounting or stuffing, for the purpose of display or study). Val thinks this phobia could probably traced back to deeper trauma that she may have experienced but she is still unclear. She spoke to me about finding communities online where people who share the same taxidermy-phobia can connect… and it made me think how amazing it is to be able to find others in the world and connect with them using these online tools that can reassure us that we are not the only ones that have these fears. It is nice to be reassured that we are not alone… and sometimes that’s all we need. Also, there are someplace that you just don’t go to and that’s ok too.
