According to a recent survey in 2023, 21% of adults are experiencing at least 1 mental illness. That equates to about 50 million people in the United States. 55% of them have not received any treatment. 32% of them reported depression. Those are astronomical stats to throw at you, but good to know in time for Mental Health Awareness Month. This is no laughing matter.
It's a higher call to action. It's not enough to simply raise awareness or donate funds to a campaign that simply funds the organization that provides mental health services. It is the responsibility of each person here on this planet to keep the world filled with sunshine.
As you can see there is a huge demand for people who want and need your support. Some will not ask for it, so it's important to make a conscious effort to reach out to people close to you. A simple phone call, text, DM, email, or invitation to lunch or dinner occasionally makes a huge difference in someone's day.
In this episode, you'll learn about:
- Mental Health Awareness Month is a great time to spread positive messages and consider a mental health benefit for employees and their families.
- Laughter can help reduce stress and anxiety.
- Doing something nice for others can go a long way in helping to promote positive mental health.
Now, more than ever is a great time to spend time investing back in people you may have lost touch with. One simple connection will make more of an impact than you know.
