SERMON DESCRIPTION
Both sides of the political spectrum in our country are claiming someone has stolen the American Dream. The result is that the American people are turning on each other. "A house divided against itself cannot stand," said Abraham Lincoln. A person divided within himself (or herself) is also set up to fall. Politicians and religious leaders often offer simplistic answers that feed on people's desire for control in uncertain times. The divisions we are seeing are in part a spiritual disease. Our initial work to repair the divisions in our country begins within.
