Dazed and Confused (1993) is a coming-of-age film focusing on the hijinks of high school in 1976. From the star quarterback to the incoming freshmen nerds, Richard Linklater's film is widely regarded as a cult classic due to its authenticity and unbelievable cast. Among that cast is Matthew McConaughey playing his first on screen role as David Wooderson - the local in town who can't seem to move on from his glory days.
During our discussion, we sit down with Kelly Chappell - current owner of Top Notch Hamburgers in Austin, TX. Top Notch served as a filming location to many iconic scenes in the film. One of those scenes is where Wooderson delivered those famous words, "Alright, Alright, Alright". Kelly shares with us what to order as a first timer at Top Notch, some of his memories of the filming of Dazed, and a heartwarming tale involving McConaughey, the Oscars, and Kelly's niece.
