Percussionist, educator, and principal timpanist of the Tucson Symphony Alana Wiesing shares her story of growing up in Phoenix, Arizona, going to school at Indiana University and then winning a job in her home-state hours from where she grew up, a dream job for her. We talk about her insights into auditions, mental health, work-life balance and she gives a mini-masterclass on what the timpani are and how the timpani work.
