““This is my commandment,

that you love one another

as I have loved you.

Greater love has no one than this,

that someone lay down his life for his friends.

You are my friends

if you do what I command you.”

John 15:12-14 ESV

Jesus speaks clearly here on many things in one small section.

He is giving us a commandment:

love one another

How do we do this?

Just like He loved you

What is the greatest love?

To lay down your life for your friend

Who are you?

 Jesus considers you His friend

If… you do what i command you

(See above for commandment lol)

Many things to think about

We all love - people, pets, hobbies, pizza, etc…

Do we love on another?

Do we even want to or have the desire to?

Do we love like Jesus loved?

How did/does Jesus love?

Sacrificially and selflessly

But, before He selflessly became the sacrificed lamb of God and died for our sins

He lived in complete obedience to God because He loved Him

This is love

Jesus calls you His friend if you do what He commands

To love others like He loves you

Sacrificially and selflessly

Do you consider Jesus your friend?

Do you consider yourself a friend of Jesus?

If you are a friend of Jesus and you consider Him a friend, then living a life that you laid down before Him is the only way

He didn’t ask you here to die for Him but to live for Him

To lay down your life before Him

To give your life for Him

This is love

If you are His friend

Love like He loves you

What commandment would be needed after that?

What does it matter if this is not first kept?

If love is not the foundation, the work is built on you, not Him

Let His love be the foundation of your life
